About this app

HOKUSAI Retro Watch Face Vol.3 features seven exquisite artworks from Katsushika Hokusai’s iconic Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, along with two monochrome variations—each meticulously adapted into a wearable canvas for Wear OS.
This watch face is more than a design; it’s a tribute to Hokusai’s innovation, where Japanese aesthetics harmonize with Western perspective. It celebrates the legacy of an artist who laid the foundation for modern manga and anime, and whose influence continues to ripple across generations.
Curated by Japanese designers, this is a wearable homage to timeless masterpieces.
The analog-style digital display evokes nostalgic charm, reminiscent of classic LCDs. In positive display mode, a tap reveals a luminous backlight image—offering a new way to experience these enduring works of art.
Adorn your wrist with the artistry of Hokusai, whose vision transcended eras and inspired creators worldwide.

🧑‍🎨 About Katsushika Hokusai
Katsushika Hokusai (c. October 31, 1760 – May 10, 1849) was a celebrated ukiyo-e artist, painter, and printmaker of Japan’s Edo period. His woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji includes the globally renowned The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
Hokusai revolutionized ukiyo-e, expanding its scope from portraits of courtesans and actors to landscapes, flora, and fauna. His work profoundly influenced Western artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet during the Japonisme movement of the late 19th century.
Inspired by the rise of domestic travel and his personal reverence for Mount Fuji, Hokusai created this monumental series—particularly The Great Wave and Red Fuji—which cemented his fame both in Japan and abroad.
Over his prolific career, Hokusai produced more than 30,000 works, including paintings, sketches, prints, and illustrated books. His innovative compositions and masterful technique place him among the greatest figures in art history.
