• Story
The story begins in a forest near the village of Riders. Three young friends—the hero, Lilia, and Cheval—stumble upon a shining egg.

The trio perform a playful imitation of the Rite of Kinship, only to be shocked when it actually succeeds!

The egg hatches, revealing a baby Rathalos, a flying wyvern also known as "the King of the Skies." The trio affectionately name him "Ratha," and take him back to the village.

Days later, without warning, the village is beset upon by a monster infected by "the Black Blight." They manage to drive it away, but not before it devastates the town—and leaves indelible scars in the hearts of Cheval and Lilia.

A year passes...

The hero receives a Kinship Stone from the Village Chief and officially becomes a Rider. Cheval and Lilia both leave the village, each on their own path. The hero, though separated now from childhood friends, partners up with the cheerful Navirou, and embarks upon a new adventure into the world of hunters.

A story of friendship and triumph await you—ride on into the world of Monster Hunter Stories!

I had to take a moment to leave a review for this game. I'm an avid mobile gamer and am very picky when it comes to finding a game I want to invest my time in to, which is why I was so excited when I found this gem. I was skeptic of the $20 price-tag at first, but after diving in to the game my doubts quickly vanished. I've played over 16 hours in just 3 days. It's hard to put down. I'm not even a quarter of the way through the game according to my progress log and already feel l've gotten my money's worth. The graphics and audio are beautiful; well above-average compared to most other mobile RPGs. The story is heartfelt, engaging, and has kept my interest. I typically favor the combat-style fighting of MMOs, but the turn-based battle system of this game is surprisingly refreshing, dynamic, and challenging (in a good way). That and the monster collection and training aspects of this game are very reminiscent of the Pokemon games, for any fans of the series. I have yet to encounter bugs or glitches of any sort. Overall, I'd say this is easily one of the best mobile RPGs I've played to-date, and I've played MANY. There's really not much room for improvement. I'm happy I picked it up!

So glad for games like this! I've gotten so sick and tired of freemium games with constant pressure to pay. The $20 for this upfront is exactly what I want, and worth it. No additional charges, just a full game, with depth and lots to do. It's a nice mix of Monster Hunter and Pokemon. Turn based RPG combat, with a collection to fill out, and lots of monsters to hunt and hatch. My only gripe is it restarts if you switch apps, so be sure to save often. Still, I'm really glad I bought it.

Spectacular game for adults & children alike! Good storyline w/ correct grammar & many different character customizations! I love collecting all the different types of armor, weapons, & most importantly, the monsters! You collect monster eggs in dungeons after defeating a boss, then you bring them back to your village to hatch them & train your monster to learn new moves. You don't have to worry about nonsense like pay-to-win. This game was originally for 3DS, so glad they released it on mobile!
