About this app

Drive through Gettysburg and into history with Gettysburg Tours. Watch live action battle scenes that help you imagine real events on Gettysburg’s open fields. The Gettysburg Driving Tour App isn’t just a static map and pictures; it’s a fully immersive and interactive experience.

Try out the tour through Stop 1, then purchase the full tour if you would like to continue.

You MUST allow the app to track your location for the GPS triggers to work properly. Press "Allow" when prompted after downloading the app.
Your iPad or tablet must be cell data capable Or it must be a smart phone. WiFi only iPads will not work for the on-site gps tour.

At each of the National Park Service’s 16 Auto Tour Stops you can:
-Experience GPS triggered audio that plays automatically as you drive
-Watch battle videos specific to your location
-View custom maps
-See historically accurate and realistic paintings
-Get directions to the next stop
You can zip through the park quickly by pausing at a limited number of key stops, or spend more time and experience all 16. It’s fun, flexible, and easy to use. The audio in the app will trigger and play as you drive by historic battle fields.

Please note:
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Audio Tour was excellent. It enhanced our driving tour tremendously. It moved in perfect sync with our vehicle location and the National Park's signage and map. The narration was very good. There were additional, optional narratives you could listen to at certain spots. Well worth the price of the app. We were able to play it via bluetooth on our car sound system. Those criticizing its operation must not understand how it works. It's a "10" in my book.

I had mixed results with this app. We followed the auto tour rout from beginning to end without deviation. The app appeared to work well in the beginning of the tour, but after a while things didn't go well. Stops were skipped and videos wouldn't play. At one point I had to reboot my device. At tour stop 8 the gps thought I was at stop 11. I don't know if the app is to blame, my cell service provider (Virgin Mobile), or both. So I don't know how to rate this app.

Hi thanks for your feedback. The videos need internet connection to play (not the audio) so the video issue could have been your connection. We will look into stop 11 and make sure it is spaced correctly. Thanks again

Dont understand the negative reviews, we loved the app. Downloaded so we could go have some quarantine social distance fun and we did. Only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is that there could be some improvements which i will speak to. It took US a few tries to get going, which i fully blame that we did not familiarize before we started, ended up playing the intro about 10 times which was frustrating but once we figured out it all went pretty smoothly. 1st item that we think could be improved is the map; we relied heavily on it to know when we were approaching a spot because the audio would start out very low and we would miss a sentence or two and have to replay. When we came into the map it was never centered where we were so had to press the center button as well, minor inconvenience to be sure but something that we did talk about so figured i would bring it up. Second is that we would have liked to be able to pause where we were on the tour and have an option to have GPS get us back there after a rest room break. We took the optional two stops near the end of the tour and had some difficulty getting back to stops 61 to 66. Again minor inconvenience. Lastly a suggestion to include more content in the areas between stops. Just one example is the stop talking about the drummers, it would have been nice to be able to hear some of their stories or even some of the drum commands that would have been used on the battlefield. Also maybe more content about some of the other monuments. And maybe have some reenactors read letters to home that were found while between spots. This would be extra content on top of an already huge amount and so maybe offer a premium or enhanced tour for more money. We only went yesterday and are already suggesting this to our friends. Well worth every penny.
